The turning of a new year brings with it a slew of posts about resolutions, about giving things up and starting anew.
I've been down that road too and I know that by the second week in January I've forgotten most of my good intentions and am left feeling like a failure. Well, not this year, matey! I've had enough of feeling bad about myself. Time to bring on the good stuff.
I'm nearer to the Epilogue than the Prologue in my story so there's not much time for faffing about left. If I want to get something done then I'd better crack on. So this year is all about grabbing opportunities. I've always been one for standing back, for letting opportunities pass by, saying 'no, not for me.' This year I want to take advantage of everything that comes around - contests, submission opportunities, chances to read out my work or work with other writers.
Also, I feel I need to create some opportunities for myself. To stride forward with a story in my hand and to find an audience. A long dead podcast idea may get a shot of adrenaline too.
So, here's to opportunity wherever she may knock in 2024. I'm going to be ready this time.
